My darling. The record most near and dear. It's devastating that MCA wasted this record. But it was the spur to better things. I think every technical thing went wrong that could have - machines were mutinying at every turn. Microphones exploding... but we came up with the most beautiful work.
We did all the vocals in the livingroom in Boston -- even the ten tracks of overdubs Ingrid and I did to create the big loud women's choir at the end of "Landmine." Alain was amazing as arrranger, producer, engineer, all round trouble shooter and damage controller. One of the best moments was trying to get all the guys to sing on the end choruses of "Genius or a Fool" We almost had to put Abe in the parking lot 'cause he has such a huge voice. Gerry pretended to sing I think but it was just his lips moving. He's too cool.
By the way check out his solo record, "Spooky Ghost." It's awesome.

Entertainment Weekly (11/21/97, p.137) - "...Brooke stands out in the crammed arena of female singer-songwriters both for her complex, intensely melodic tunes and her uncliched, heartfelt poetry....she emerges from the post-relationship landscape wised up and with her humanity intact..."
