AFTER THE TEARS

JONATHA'S NOTE:

I originally wrote a different version of this song to submit to a movie called "Because of Winn Dixie" with Jeff Daniels. Well, surprise, they didn’t use it, but I was soooo in love with the chorus that I kept chipping away at a way to make it mine. Adding Eric was the perfect way to bring it back. We recorded it live in my little room in New York. Distortion and all, a little red wine, chocolate. The original idea happened at True Tone guitars in Santa Monica. Dave, our pal there had just gotten in a used mandolin. It came out of the case in a funky tuning, and I started playing the chorus of this song. So, duh, I had to buy the mandolin in order to finish it.
LYRICS: Think of me once in a while
Put in a good word
You’re right up there with the stars in the sky
And the tears in my eyes but it’s OK
You’d never tell and you’d never say

After the tears have fallen
I’ll be better off without you
And I’ll say everything I wanted, everything I wanted
To say

Tell me the truth for a change
Now that you’re gone for good
What do I do with the love in my heart
Tell me where do I start when I’m lonely, and only

After the tears have fallen
I’ll be better off without you
And I’ll be everything I wanted, everything I wanted
To be

I can’t even picture your face any more tell me
How will I know you, did I ever know you?

After the tears have fallen
I’ll be better off without you
And I’ll see everything I wanted, everything I wanted
To see

Everything, everything, everything
