Baby Wait

JONATHA'S NOTE:

Just a fun one that got started in Nashville and finished in New York. Came fully formed with the weird instrumental bridge and all. It’s become such a celebrity obsessed world, it’s hard not to get sucked right in. Lovely Brandon Duncan, Bob’s current second engineer, and David Boucher, Bob’s former second (Steady Pull) played the frisky parts on bassoon and clarinets.
LYRICS: Baby got a brand new dress
Baby’s gonna put it on and do her best
Walking like Sunday, and talking like she’s got it made
Baby give it a rest

Baby thinks that nobody knows
But she’s wearing a big sign
Wherever she goes
Shaking her ass, she starts talking like trash
And you can sit and watch the wind blow

Baby wait
You can’t carry on this way another day
I can’t stand to see you fall and break

Baby what you gonna do
Now that the whole world’s fawning on you
You love the spotlight
But you fell for your own hype
Now baby the joke’s on you

Baby don’t you fall apart
Nobody knows what you’ve got in your heart
Just let me mention
The crowd turns and then some
The second you stop playing your part
Then pretty isn’t even a start

Baby wait
You can’t carry on this way another day
I can’t stand to see you fall and break

Oh, You’re angels and your demons
Know you’re in a million little pieces

Baby wait
You can’t carry on this way another day
I can’t stand to see you fall
Baby wait
You can’t carry on this way another day
I can’t stand to see you fall and break, and break, baby stay.
