RECORD LABEL: Bad Dog Records
TRACK 1:
My Sweet And Bitter Bowl JONATHA'S NOTE:I was so drawn to the poetry of this one. So feminine, so sexy. I imagine it's a love song to Marjorie, Woody's wife, and by most accounts the love of his life. Nora told me the very first night they were together, Woody didn't touch Marjorie - they just held hands. Apparently that sealed the deal. I told the guys this story before we tracked this one and they brought extra mojo to the take. Christian's bass part is just sublime.
LYRICS:
I ride the fastest horse and ships;
Those soldiers bold have tried of me;
CHORUS: If you would open and raise my soul
Summer's lovers I have tried,
When I do find my one of all, CHORUS
If my eyes tell you that you're this one,
When I hold you warm in hand CHORUS
This wild grass is our document;
For you I'll hunger most and worst; CHORUS
I am your battles still to fight; 1/30/1947 |
